Learn to tend your land with confidence
The best land management comes from people who understand their own ground. Soil Solutions offers hands-on workshops and one-on-one consulting to help you build that understanding, so you can keep things moving in the right direction long after we have gone.
Whether you are a grower considering the move to organic, a rancher curious about regenerative grazing, or a new landowner trying to figure out where to start, we can help you sort through options and make a plan.
Workshops
Workshops are practical and done on the land whenever possible. Topics can include soil health and testing, composting, cover crops, microbial amendments, water harvesting and swales, permaculture design basics, food forests, and market gardening. Workshops can be arranged for farm groups, community organizations, schools, and landowner groups. Contact us to talk about topics, format, and location.
Consulting
Consulting is one-on-one help for your situation. That might be a single site visit with clear recommendations, help reviewing a plan, or ongoing check-ins through a transition to organic or the first seasons of a new operation. We work across Northern California and Northern Nevada and can help you decide which of our services, from soil testing to earthworks, make sense and in what order.
Not sure what you need? A conversation is the best place to start.
Getting started
Every project begins with a conversation. Tell us about your land, what you are growing or raising, and what you want to change. From there we usually recommend a site visit and, in most cases, soil testing, so the plan for workshops & consulting is built on what is actually happening on your ground. You will get clear recommendations and an honest sense of what to do first, what can wait, and how our other services might fit in.
